CaptureRelay support
Most questions are answered in the FAQ on our home page. If you're getting set up or hit a snag, the steps below cover the common cases. Still stuck? Send us a message and we'll help personally.
Getting connected
- Install the free CaptureRelay plugin on your WordPress site (WordPress 6.6+, PHP 8.1+, HTTPS, and GD or Imagick).
- Open CaptureRelay › Diagnostics in WordPress and confirm HTTPS, the REST API, the upload directory, and image processing are all healthy.
- In the app, add your site URL, name the phone, and tap Request Access.
- An administrator approves the device under CaptureRelay › Connections. The camera opens automatically once approved.
Common fixes
- Every signed request returns 401. The web server is likely stripping the
Authorizationheader. Ensure it's preserved through any CDN, proxy, or Apache/FastCGI layer. - A time-window error appears. The phone or server clock is off. Enable automatic date & time on the device and confirm the server clock.
- An upload returns 413. The processed image exceeds the plugin's maximum size in KB or the server's request limit. Lower the site's JPEG quality, reduce its dimensions, or raise the limit.
- A photo won't leave the queue. Confirm the destination site is still approved and reachable; queued photos stay tied to the site they were captured for.
Redacted error details are available under CaptureRelay › Diagnostics and Upload Activity in WordPress.
